The annual John Denver celebration, which began Oct. 1, runs through Oct. 6 in Aspen. “Spirit: The Music of John Denver,” presented by Mack Bailey and Chris Nole, is at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at the Wheeler Opera House. Then, “An Evening of the Music of John Denver,” presented by Chris Collins and Boulder Canyon, kicks off at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, also at the Wheeler Opera House. Tickets are available at aspenshowtix.com or 970-920-5770. There are nightly sing-a-longs at 9 p.m. Oct. 5 and 6 in the Mountain Chalet Snowmass Lobby. On Sunday, Oct. 5, there is music by John Denver, “Special Service,” at 9:30 a.m. at the Aspen Chapel. There is a “Good-Bye Again” at 10 a.m., Oct. 6, at Mountain Chalet Snowmass Lobby. Art opening extravaganza at Carbondale Arts Gallery, Oct. 3

Carbondale Arts presents three exhibitions with an opening reception from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, timed for Carbondale’s First Friday festivities. Don’t miss the artists’ talk at 5:30 p.m. The visual occasion will feature art by mixed media artist Courtney Kenny, “Recording Time (with Scraps and Words),” Michael Kinsley’s “Fluid Landscapes,” celebrating landscapes in the Roaring Fork Valley, and Laura Dortman’s ceramic sculptures, “Intimate Immensity.” The shows will be on display through Oct. 30. Aspen Dance Connection and Garfield Libraries present free African drum and dance classes for the whole family on Saturday, Oct. 4, in Roaring Fork Valley. Classes will be taught by Maputo Mensah, director of LOGO LIGI from Ghana. The drum class will take place 4-5:15 p.m., then a dance class follows 5:30-6:45 p.m. at Glenwood Springs Library, 815 Cooper Ave. For more information, contact Fran Page at 970-927-0641. ACES celebrates autumn — with fresh mountain air, vibrant foliage, and festivities — on Saturday, Oct. 4, at Rock Bottom Ranch. Its two harvest party sessions will offer pumpkin carving (one pumpkin per family), hayride farm tours, a vegetable harvest, pie contests, ranch games, a photo booth, kids’ crafts, and apple cider pressing. The morning session, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., will showcase live music with “Sweet Jessup & The Dirty Buckets.” The afternoon session, from 2 to 5 p.m., will feature “A Band Called Alexis.” Tickets per session are $15, with children 3 years old and under free. A shuttle will run every 15 minutes from Basalt Park and Ride or Grace Church in Emma. No parking is available, but bicycles are welcome. Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. ‘Wind in the Willows’ at the Wheeler, Oct. 5

Toyota presents a screening of a new Matchstick Productions ski movie “After the Snowfall,” from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, at the Wheeler Opera House. It’s a high-octane, heartfelt journey, filmed in locations like Norway, British Columbia, and Canada, showcasing elite skiers such as Michelle Parker, Nikolai Schirmer, Nico Porteous, and Caite Zeliff. It reflects on what skiing means to them and how skiing is “more than a sport, it is a way of life.” The Wheeler Opera House is located at 320 E.
