A father/husband’s inspirational legacy

Sadly, Aspen recently lost a wonderful and talented member of our community, Ivan Petkov.

We wish to send condolences to Ivan’s beloved wife and mother and especially to his son Nikolai, whom we have known since birth. Nikolai is an amazing young man who clearly carries forth the unique, independent, bright and creative spirit passed on from his father.

One of Ivan’s many gifts was his passion for the mountains and his talent as a world-class skier. We will always envision him swooping down Aspen Mountain with his elegant carving turns on the S-skis he designed. We are grateful that this spirit and so much more are ingrained in Nikolai forever!

Last spring, we were with Nikolai and his parents, Ivan and Sharon Wells, at his graduation from Aspen High and were so touched by how proud they were of the very special young man he had become. Ivan was fierce in everything he did, especially in his steadfast love for his son.

We hope Nikolai finds strength in that – Ivan adored him so deeply throughout all of life’s joys and challenges.
