Walsh: Bring back the Highlands Flyer

As another ski season approaches, it’s disappointing that access to Aspen Highlands will continue to be a challenge. That includes gridlock traffic as well as limited and soon-to-come paid parking at Buttermilk.
Access to AH from Brush Creek P&R is still not available. RFTA blames SkiCo; SkiCo blames RFTA.
Enough — please fix this. Bring back the flyer with service from Brush Creek. This could also serve AH employees.
Our season passes are a big investment that should include reasonable and convenient access to the slopes. Taking two buses is not reasonable or convenient.
Additional note to RFTA: All buses from Aspen to Snowmass should include a stop at Brush Creek when they have seats available.

Pitkin County emergency dispatch director sees national recognition
A high performing 911 center and positive workplace culture don’t have to be mutually exclusive. That’s the philosophy proven by the director of Pitkin County Regional Emergency Dispatch Center, Brett Loeb, who was just recognized nationally as the 2025 Public Safety Answering Point Finest Director of the Year by NiCE Public Safety — an organization that recognizes emergency communications excellence.
