The Ladies of the Aspen Thrift Shop: April grant recipients

Now in our 75th year, the Aspen Thrift Shop is pleased to announce the grant recipients for April 2024. These funds are available thanks to those who donate goods, to our volunteers who sort, price, display and sell at the shop, and to everyone who makes a purchase. This is the legacy of the Aspen Thrift Shop, begun in 1949 with the original goal to fund housing for nurses who worked at the hospital. As the years rolled by, the thrift shop took on many more deserving projects, including Aspen’s first kindergarten, first hot lunch program, and the Aspen Ski Club.

The Aspen Thrift Shop now distributes grants to non-profit organizations and school programs up and down the valley. Our volunteers meet throughout the year to hear from many of the nearly 300 non-profits serving our community in a multitude of ways.

This month’s recipients are: A Way Out, Andy Zanca Youth Empowerment Program (AZYEP), Aspen Choral Society, Aspen Hall of Fame, Aspen Mother Puckers, Aspen Skating Club, Energetics Education (Solar Rollers), Family Resource Center of the Roaring Fork School District, High Country Sinfonia, Lucky Day Animal Rescue of Colorado, Mountain Valley Developmental Services, Roaring Fork Cycling, Roaring Fork PreCollegiate, Rogue Repertory Company (Fringe Festival), Theatre Aspen, and Uproot Colorado — for a total of over $46,000.

Information on these grantees may be found on their websites. Thank you for supporting the Aspen Thrift Shop and these worthy organizations.
