Cruz: Another Aspen icon passes

The recent death of Gideon Kaufman is incomprehensible. He was a beloved father, rabbi, and gifted attorney. Aside from his charm, humor, intelligence, and good looks, Gideon was an amazing athlete, fabulous skier, strong cyclist, and barefoot waterskiing champion. He was a kind and generous man, and he will be greatly missed not only in Aspen but around the country.
During the years I worked for him, he was always respectful, professional, and thoughtful, never raising his voice. Additionally, he was a wonderful speaker. The last time I spoke to him, he was at John Ely’s memorial reading, a beautiful poem about death and loss.
Aspen has suffered great losses this month. My deepest condolences to his family.

Post: Complicating the equation
After attending the Oct. 15 Planning and Zoning meeting it became apparent to me that consideration being given to the Aspen Meadows Planned Development amendment is problematic for numerous reasons.
