Robert “Bob” Harold Hillebrand, age 82, of Basalt, Colorado, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, in West Greenwich, Rhode Island. He was the devoted husband of Karen Marie (Carew) Hillebrand, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership.

Born in Denver, Colorado, Bob was one of six children of the late Jerome and Helen (Peterson) Hillebrand.

He is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Sabrina (Hillebrand) Lane and Lindsay Hillebrand; his sister, Janie Ellen Daly; and his brother, Stephen Mark Hillebrand. He was predeceased by his brother Richard Allen Hillebrand and sisters Judith Ann Wright and Marilyn Elaine Laurita.

Bob’s legacy also lives on through his cherished granddaughters, Carissa Lane (husband Daniel Gross) and Hanna (Lane) Valdivieso (husband Shay), and his beloved great-grandson, Henry E. Gross. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who will remember “Uncle Bob” with great affection.

Bob was a man whose kindness, integrity, and generosity touched all who knew him. He served his country with pride in the U.S. Army National Guard and lived by the values of hard work, honesty, and friendship. A true craftsman at heart, Bob took great pride in his career as a builder—constructing two family homes and several other residences in the Roaring Fork Valley.

He loved the great outdoors and found joy in the simple beauty of nature. Whether skiing the Colorado slopes, fishing or boating on the water, Bob was happiest outside with his loyal dog, Samson.

Bob will be remembered as a man who loved deeply, gave freely, and lived authentically. His steady presence, generous spirit, and quiet strength will be forever missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A private celebration of his life will be held in Colorado at a later date.
