Obituary: June Howard
– April 15, 2024
June Edna Howard, aged ninety, passed away peacefully on April 15 in Wilton, Connecticut. She was born on June 18, 1933, in Chelsea, London UK to Robert and Edna Howard. She was a resident of Aspen for 30 years and spent the last 15 years of her life in New Canaan, CT.
She was exceptional. And I do not mean exceptionally good, I just mean exceptional, not like everyone else. She had a burning passion in her, a drive, a lust, a need. She wanted what she wanted, and she went out and got it. Because of the time and place that she lived, that meant only a few options were open to her. She did not have an easy path to the corporate suite, or any path, really. Her extreme beauty was the only asset that was valued in her world, and she decided to make the most of it.
At age18 June joined the Folies Bergère in Paris as a showgirl and traveled with the troop all over Europe, South Africa, and Argentina, she landed in Miami with show in 1957, and went on to have a modeling career, marriage, and 2 children in New York before moving to Aspen. June was a prominent resident of Aspen, you would often see her volunteering at various events and organizations at the Music Tent for music festival and the Design conference, or at the Aspen Institute assisting with foreign visitors. June was truly one of a kind, a special bird and she will be missed.
She is survived by her daughters Wendy and Stacy, Grandchildren Raleigh, Nicole, and James.
