John W. Watkins – August 29,1954 – July 14,2024 On July 14th 2024 John Watkins passed away at Valley View Hospital after a month long battle with Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease , he was 69 years old. John was born in Callaway, Nebraska. This is where he met his wife Cindy when they were 15 years old. They were high school sweethearts and married in 1975. They moved to Colorado to start their family in 1980. Shortly after they welcomed their 3 beautiful daughters, Hilarie, Lindsey and Sara. John was a gifted Architect and designed and built many homes in the Roaring Fork Valley including his dream home in Blue Lake. Here John & Cindy raised their girls and many furry friends. John was an animal lover and never said no to a pet. His greatest joy in life was taking his family and friends on epic trips to Lake Powell. In addition to being a loving husband and father John was also a loving grandfather to Zeeva, Lucy, Landon and Braxton. After retiring, John began restoring vintage campers into works of art with his best furry pal Mr. Freckles. Services for John will be held at Sayre Park on his birthday August 29th at 4:00 pm with a Celebration of Life to follow. The family encourages guests to wear Hawaiian shirts or anything that reminds of you of John.
