Aspen native, Glenn Hopkins, died in a car accident on July 19th on the Grand Mesa. He was born to Patricia and Dave Hopkins in 1967. Early in life, Glenn made the choice to live to help others. He worked in the health and fitness/body work profession for over 25 years and felt immense joy sharing his gift of healing with others.

Recently, while living in Cedaredge, Glenn was guiding snowmobile tours for the Grand Mesa Lodge. He was always so grateful after a tour, saying how much he loved sharing his passion for the wild outdoors. Skiing and motorcycles were his other favorite hobbies. To watch him ski through the trees and bumps was to witness pure gracefulness. Glenn’s kindness and generosity were matched by his honesty and decency. He lived a fast and full life and will be greatly missed.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Katie Sharkey; brother, Steve Hopkins; and former wife, Tracy Moon. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to GoFundMe set up by the Grand Mesa Lodge, to help Katie with final costs. https://gofund.me/d9705387.

On the day he died, Glenn had just completed writing a book of poems, “Fodder for Thought.” A poem from his book follows:

??????Survive
Respect and Honor is your armor.
Truth and decency are your only
Weapons to survive this world with
Your integrity intact.

A memorial service will take place September 11, 1-4p.m. at Grand Mesa Arts and Events Center. 195 W. Main Street. Cedaredge, Colorado.
