Stein Eriksen is again issuing an invitation to ‘come ski with me,'” stated The Snowmass Villager Jan. 9, 1969. “The Director of the Snowmass Ski School has planned a racing clinic to start Monday, Jan. 13, and run for five days. Time trials will probably be run the last three days of the clinic. He said the clinic is open to all age groups of ‘good advanced skiers.’ … He said that the clinic is not especially for racers despite its name. He states, ‘so many good skiers that can improve their skiing can’t improve it by just being told   technical tips. They can improve it by running slalom and giant slalom gates. Skiing requires much concentration and timing, things it is extremely important for more advanced skiers to concentrate on. The slalom gates force skiers into these two areas. They are forced to improve timing and the more they become acquainted with the gates, the faster they’ll be able to ski. In the daily routine of skiing nothing requires the holding of an edge or the carving of a turn. Skiers get lazy. Instead of their skiing improving, it declines. I want to wake up the good skier to make him realize that he can still be better and get more satisfaction out of skiing.'”
