“2 employee housing buildings completed” announced The Snowmass Villager March 13, 1969. “The first buildings designed specifically and solely for employees housing in Snowmass-at-Aspen were completed Friday, according to developer Paul Holmberg. Located on Brush Creek Road, northeast of West Village, two buildings out of a projected 15, with 6 units each, are ready for occupancy. Holmberg, who is partnered in the venture by Richard Zejdlik and Dr. Zemke of Minneapolis, Minn., stated that the units were built exclusively for employees of Snowmass. He noted that the procedure being used for rental is to lease the apartments to businesses in Snowmass who will in turn sub-lease them to their employees … ‘my partners and I were determined that there has to be a solution to the employee housing problem.’ Depending on the reaction to the two initial units, construction on the remaining 13 may begin this summer. All of the apartments are studio units, designed for two people, with the exception of one one-bedroom apartment designed for four people … Interiors are described as exposed beam using native timber. Three color schemes have been used: variations of blues; oranges and reds; and yellows and greens. Each apartment is fully furnished, said Holmberg, and is fitted with two day beds, a table, chairs, an economy kitchen, and built-in bureaus and closets.”
