Winter just got more delicious as Mawa’s Kitchen continues to host a 2026 Chef Dinner series through February and March.
“I know my clientele. I know my Aspenites,” Chef Mawa said. “I want to add culture to the small mom-and-pop restaurant. I think people are craving to have a range of choices besides steak and sushi and have a desire to expand their palate.”
Chef Mawa McQueen will carry on her two decades of storytelling and her mission to continue broadening the local communities’ diverse cultural culinary options with the following lineup:
Chef Kelston Moore, Feb. 6-7
San Diego-based Chef Kelston Moore will present a curated four-course menu featuring the tastes of Barbados, Feb. 6-7. Moore, founder of the Bad Boyz of Culinary Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is known for his appearance on the television series, “Chopped.” Highlights of his dishes include Smoked Jerk Snapper and Braised Goat.
Chef Ope Amosu, Feb. 19-21
Chef Ope Amosu brings West African-inspired flavors to the mountains, Feb. 19-21. Born in London to Nigerian parents, he opened the acclaimed ChòpnBlọk restaurant in Houston, Texas, in 2024. He’s a two-time James Beard Semifinalist for Emerging Chef in 2024 and Best Chef in 2025.
Chef Claudia Sandoval, March 13-15
Chef Claudia Sandoval — winner of “MasterChef” Season 6 — will showcase her vibrant Mexican-coastal cuisine, March 13-15. Raised in San Diego and rooted with Mexican heritage, she credits her mother and grandmother for teaching her to cook. Her style blends the flavors of coastal California and Mexico. Sandoval is the author of “Claudia’s Cocina: A Taste of Mexico,” and has appeared on television shows including “Chopped” and “The Best Thing I Ever Ate.”
