Aspen Education Foundation presented its annual benefit, the Flamingo, on Saturday, Dec. 13, at The St. Regis Aspen, raising a record-breaking amount for the Aspen School District.
Founded in 1991, Aspen Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) fundraising organization that partners closely with school administrators and the community to identify and fund in-school or beyond classroom programs across our five schools. Over the years, Aspen Education Fund has played a critical role in investing in the educational experiences that our community has come to appreciate and expect, including Outdoor Education, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics), Performing Arts, International Baccalaureate, and Post-secondary Counseling.
For the 2025 Flamingo gala, a mighty team ensured it would be set up for success, including Aspen Education Foundation Executive Director Cynthia Chase, Board President Paul Sohn, Board Vice President Molly Gilmore, and event chairs Stephanie and Dan Zilberman, and John Mahedy.
An array of event partners added to the success of the atmosphere at the sold-out event, including The St. Regis Aspen, the Snow Lodge, EKS Events, Kissane Viola Design, Alpine Bank, Local Spirits, and Woody Creek Distillers. Added to that were even more generous event sponsors, auction donors, auction winners, ticket buyers, and more.
The Rhinestone Rodeo theme inspired western wear paired with glittery cowboy hats, bolo ties, and other accessories. Guests enjoyed a cocktail reception in the foyer, followed by a seated dinner in the ballroom with speeches honoring Aspen School District Alumni teachers and faculty, a live auction successfully guided by leading charity auctioneer Lydia Fenet, and a riveting set by alt-country musician Paul Cauthen and his “big velvet” sound. The dance floor was filled for Cauthen and his band as all celebrated a successful evening of fundraising for education.
