DanceAspen rolled out the red carpet on Friday, July 12, for a night of glitz and glamour at their Old Hollywood-themed gala at Hotel Jerome. The third annual benefit for the burgeoning organization honored Gail and Boogie Weinglass and their notable contributions to the community for many years.

Guests came dressed in classic cinema-inspired attire — sleek suits, tuxedos, and fedoras for the gentlemen and chic evening gowns, heels, and stoles for the women.

The evening began with a cocktail hour in the Antler Bar, followed by a three-course dinner in the ballroom featuring performances by DanceAspen’s talented troupe. The Aspen Bandstand Competition returned with the charismatic DanceAspen dancers and patrons pulling out all the stops on the dance floor with music by DJ Naka G.

An after-party took place in Bad Harriet.

The gala serves as DanceAspen’s primary fundraising event to carry the company and enables them to continue to bring exciting new choreography to the Roaring Fork Valley, enrich the community with outreach and education, and support the local dance artists who have made Aspen their home. Thanks to the support of the community and the guidance of the Aspen Bandstand Committee comprising Jamay Shook, Christine Ramello, Gail Weinglass, John Sarpa, Jj Singh, and Soffia Wardy, the evening raised $900,000.

Upcoming DanceAspen events include an Adult Class Series with options for both experienced dancers seeking to refine skills and novices eager to explore the world of dance. Upcoming performances include The Vail Dance Festival: Colorado Dances on Aug. 4; Momentum: DanceAspen at the District Theatre on Aug. 16; Bloom: DanceAspen at TACAW on Sept. 5 and 6; and DanceAspen in Lone Tree on Sept. 20.
