Mountain Mayhem: A fabulous February

This past month in Aspen saw a stream of special events, world-class concerts, retail residencies, slopeside parties and more.
Over the weekend of Feb. 5-7, Aspen locals/North Carolina natives Jim and Josie Shuford celebrated their 60th birthdays with a series of energetic events. The husband-and-wife “hosts with the most” brought family and friends together for two evenings of après-ski parties with vintage ski wear as suggested attire, then a private concert with Marcus King at Belly Up.
Over President’s Day week, ASOS activated a multi-touchpoint winter initiative anchored by a pop-up at The St. Regis and a cultural takeover at Snow Lodge Aspen. The British online fashion and cosmetic retailer integrated its brand with in-room touches at the hotel and on-property activations, blending fashion, music and après-ski nightlife. The brand’s strategy centered on connecting with consumers through elevated, in-person experiences in key destinations like Aspen.
The NYLON Residency at The Snow Lodge spanned Feb. 12-15 with a lineup of world-class DJ talent, all powered by NYLON’s new invite-only Membership. Designed for today’s cultural connectors and scene-shapers, the NYLON Membership delivers unparalleled access to NYLON-hosted events, brand partnerships and elevated perks, including VIP entry to can’t-miss moments — visit nylon.com/membership.
On Feb. 15, The Chainsmokers headlined a first-of-its-kind concert presented by Aspen Skiing Company and Belly Up: “High Tops: A Party at the Top of Aspen Mountain.” The Grammy Award-winning duo was in high spirits playing one of the most iconic venues imaginable. DJ Lo_G opened the show, which was filled to the gills with fans with free tickets for general admission or bookable private cabins and reserved tables.
On Feb. 17, L.A. milliner to the stars, Nick Fouquet, celebrated his birthday with an intimate dinner in The Jade Room x Caviar Kaspia at The Snow Lodge. Fouquet teamed up with Caviar Kaspia for a collab this ski season, creating dress hats and ball caps in a limited run.
On Feb. 19, the eve of the fourth annual Palm Tree Fest, Amanda Harlan Maltas and Ashley Oesterle Baird of Harlan Estate Winery presented a wine tasting in The Wine Bar at The Little Nell, pouring Cabernet Sauvignon from The Mascot, produced by Amanda’s brother, winemaker Will Harlan. The Mascot is made with fruit from the younger vines of the Harlan family’s estates: Harlan Estate, BOND and Promontory. Originally a private project, it offers a more approachable, youthful expression of the hillside vineyards. The label features “Prince,” a historic English Bull Terrier engraving. Afterward, an elegant dinner with pairings from Harlan Estate took place in a private dining room at the hotel with Palm Tree Festival co-founder Kygo and friends.
And now we roll right into March for spring skiing, longer lingering light and many more reasons to visit Aspen.

Airport modernization project impacts to be felt this summer
A lot needs to be done before the Aspen/Pitkin County Airport can close for runway and terminal construction in 2027, including the staging of construction materials and the moving of utilities and a road.
