Injured skier rescued by helicopter at South Maroon Peak near Aspen

Around 8:38 a.m. Wednesday, the Pitkin County Regional Emergency Dispatch Center received a report of an injured skier on South Maroon Peak near Aspen. The skier, who suffered a leg injury, used a Garmin inReach device to contact emergency responders, a Pitkin County press release states.
At 10:58 a.m., the injured skier was loaded into a responding helicopter and flown to Aspen/Pitkin County Airport. Paramedics from the Aspen Ambulance District transported the skier to Aspen Valley Hospital for further treatment.
