Bringing the energy to the peak of Aspen Gay Ski Week, Grammy Award winner and two-time Tony Award nominee Shoshana Bean will perform for two nights only, Jan. 13-14, in the Grand Ballroom at the Hotel Jerome — offering a limited VIP chance to meet her.

“Shoshana Bean is a true Broadway icon, and having her join us is nothing short of a dream,” Theatre Aspen Producing Director Jed Bernstein said. “We know her show will captivate and delight audiences, setting the perfect tone as we kick off Aspen Gay Ski Week — a treasured tradition for Aspenites and visitors alike.”

Bean is equally excited for the upcoming celebratory week.

“I can’t think of a better week to mark my very first trip to Aspen! Excited to share music and make memories!” Bean said in a press release.

She added to The Aspen Times, “It’s Gay Ski Week, so a lot of my friends from New York are going to be there. I have friends who have houses there, and I have been connected to make some new friends when I’m there. I’m over the moon.”

As a recording artist, Bean’s album “Spectrum” hit No. 1 on the Billboard Jazz chart, and she recently sold out her solo debut at Carnegie Hall, Nov. 3. The event featured her recently released 2025 album, “Only Smoke.”

“It was a huge amount of work leading up to it. And it was a really beautiful moment because it also served as a sort of celebration of my album coming out that night,” Bean said of her first solo show at the venue.

During her stint in Aspen, Bean will deliver genre-blending concerts that showcase powerful vocals and storytelling. She will sing a mix of soul, Broadway favorites, and fresh takes on covers, as well as her own original songs.

“It’s been fun to put together because I like to craft the set based on where I am regionally and the feel and the vibe of the place I’m in. So there are some good cozy mountain songs, new ones from the album, and of course, some Broadway songs,” Bean said.

She emphasized her goal for the Aspen performances is to make people happy.

Bean is also renowned for her ability to reimagine classic tunes.

“I think one of my favorites, and certainly an audience favorite, is my take on Whitney Houston’s ‘I Wanna Dance with Somebody.’ I do a stripped-down acoustic version, and it always tricks people since it’s such a bop and dance song,” Bean shared. “When you strip it back and slow it down, you really hear the lyrics — there’s a beautiful, heartbreaking sort of desperation in it. It’s a beautiful connecting piece when I do live shows — that’s one that I love that we’ve reinvented.”

She also encouraged people to listen to her latest largely R&B and soul album, “Only Smoke,” released Nov. 4.

“I’m super proud of it. It’s so hard as an independent artist to get eyes and ears. And anyone who does listen feels so connected to the stories that I’m telling in these songs,” Bean said.

Bean starred as “Jersey” in Alicia Keys’ musical “Hell’s Kitchen” both on and off Broadway, landing her a Tony nomination.

“The best part about that was getting to create this beautiful friendship that I now have with Alicia. She’s such an empowering friend to have in my life, and her mother and her family are the greatest gift of ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ — the relationships that I took away,” Bean said.

“Hell’s Kitchen (Original Broadway Cast Recording)” won her a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album in 2025 — the award was shared with the other principal vocalists and producers.

The American talent is also known for lead roles on Broadway as “Elphaba” in “Wicked,” the first replacement for Idina Menzel, and as a pie-baking waitress “Jenna Hunterson” in “Waitress.”

Looking ahead, Bean is excited to star as “Lucy Emerson” in the Broadway adaptation of the 1987 classic “The Lost Boys” at the Palace Theatre opening in the spring of 2026.

Bean has been a lifelong performer. Her dance training began at only 3 years old, and she recalled seeing her first Broadway shows at age 9.

“We saw ‘Jerome Robbins’ on Broadway, quickly followed by ‘Cats’ at Winter Garden in New York,” Bean said.

The event is presented by Aspen Gay Ski Week and Theatre Aspen.

“AspenOUT and Aspen Gay Ski Week are incredibly grateful for another spectacular year in partnership with Theatre Aspen,” Executive Producer of Aspen Gay Ski Week Lukas Volk said.

A limited number of exclusive VIP tickets, including a post-show meet and greet with Bean, will also be available. Tickets are $140 for General Admission tickets, which include two drinks. Food will be available for purchase. There will be a limited number of $175 VIP tickets, featuring a post-show meeting with Bean. Her 2025 album, “Only Smoke,” will also be available for purchase.

Volk added, “Get ready to celebrate our 49th Anniversary with a breathtaking performance by the sensational Shoshana Bean!”
