Nashville-based singer-songwriter Leon Majcen is quickly becoming a name to watch, supporting Margo Price on tour and set to play Belly Up Aspen on Wednesday, Nov. 12.
After recently playing at Pueblo Memorial Hall in Colorado, opening for the chart-topping country singer-songwriter Kip Moore, Majcen said he’s excited to be back in the Rockies.
“Always a hoot in sunny Colorado. Never a shortage of good times waiting to be had in that part of the country, and I’m a lucky man to be swinging back through for the second time in the last month,” Majcen said.
His latest album, “Making A Livin’ (Not a Killin’),” released Oct. 17, is his fourth in five years and was produced with Patrick Lyons, a country music producer known for his work with Colter Wall.
“Glad that these songs are finally out. I poured my heart into making this album, and it’s been great getting to play them around the country night after night for people,” Majcen said. “I’m a lucky guy getting to make a living this way.”
Majcen’s music tells the story of his journey, which started on Florida’s Gulf Coast. The son of Bosnian war refugees, he began performing in local bars while still in high school — sharpening his skills and building a fan base.

After Majcen graduated, he continued his passion for music at New York University, balancing college classes while performing all over the city. Eventually, he moved back to Florida and worked at a commercial fishing dock, filleting and packing fish before deciding to move to Nashville.
Since then, Majcen, also a skilled guitar player, has developed a sound that mixes Americana, folk, and country. His influences include names like Townes Van Zandt, Bob Dylan, John Prine, and Guy Clark, according to a press release. He’s also expressed a love for the outdoors.

As his press team put it, “Inspired by tours that have taken him far beyond his adopted home of Nashville, the result is an album alive with motion, roadside revelations, and the lessons learned along the way.”
