Aspen Youth Center full speed ahead with new executive director
Since Brian Zubek stepped into the role of executive director for the Aspen Youth Center in September, the nonprofit organization is celebrating a new, “vibrant” chapter.
Zubek has brought “fresh energy, renewed focus, and early momentum” to the center, according to a press release. As the valley’s only free, daily, after-school and summer program for youth in grades fourth–12th with 30 years of community integration and history, AYC is focusing on deeper learning opportunities, stronger partnerships, and expanded support for families across the Roaring Fork Valley under his leadership.
“It’s a privilege to inherit an organization with more than three decades of history, generosity, and community spirit,” he said in the press release. “AYC was built on the shoulders of parents, coaches, business owners, and volunteers who believed every young person deserves a safe place to grow. I’m honored to carry that forward.”
With Zubek at the helm, AYC launched its newest Learning Lab that offers free tutoring, academic support, and enrichment with certified educators.
“The Learning Lab strengthens AYC’s core mission by ensuring every child — regardless of income or background — has access to the academic tools, confidence, and support they need to succeed,” the release reads.

AYC is also aiming to broaden family support and resource network with the aim of connecting families with guidance, partner organizations, and wraparound services.
“We want AYC to be a place where not just youth, but entire families, feel welcomed, supported, and empowered,” Zubek said in the release. “We’re just getting started.”
In light of its forward momentum, AYC continues to provide a safe, supervised environment with recreation, learning, leadership development, arts, cooking, and outdoor adventure, all free of charge. For more information, visit aspenyouthcenter.org.
