Atlantic Aviation, the fixed base operator for the Aspen/Pitkin County Airport, has committed more than $1.6 million to the Aspen Flight Academy to finalize the purchase of three training aircrafts.
A non-profit entity that Atlantic Aviation established will be making the donation that will help the academy “retire debt” on three aircrafts that the academy had been leasing. They made the announcement at the Friday, Oct. 3, annual gala for the Aspen Flight Academy.
“Atlantic Aviation has been an extraordinary partner since the inception of Aspen Flight Academy, and this transformative gift ensures the long-term, sustainable future of our mission,” said Randall Brodsky, President of the Aspen Flight Academy, in a press release. “The generosity of Atlantic in retiring more than $1.6 million of the aircraft debt not only strengthens the foundation of our operation, but also expands our ability to reduce costs and provide more scholarships for aspiring aviators.”
According to the press release, the partnership between Atlantic Aviation and the Aspen Flight Academy started when the academy was established in 2014. Atlantic Aviation provides complimentary fuel for student flights, complimentary office space, and scholarships for students. They also are a sponsor of the Annual Gala and provide the airport hangar to host the Gala, which raises a significant portion of the Flight Academy’s budget.
“We’re thrilled to continue our long-standing partnership with the Aspen Flight Academy” said Clive Lowe, Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer at Atlantic Aviation, in the release. “This contribution will help the Academy to focus toward scholarships for students in the Roaring Fork Valley.”
