Kasey Witthoeft, a long-time resident of the Roaring Fork Valley, has been playing golf for 13 years. She got her first hole in one on hole No. 7 at New Castle’s Lakota Links Golf Club on July 27. A golfer’s dream come true, she followed that with two more hole in ones Sept. 21 and Sept. 28 on holes No. 17 and No. 3, also at Lakota Links Golf Club. Truly a special moment in the golf community and for her personally.

A wonderful and memorable chance encounter with Western Slope ties during a stop in San Benedetto Po, a very small Italian town in the flat, agricultural land along the Po River west of Venice. The monument is dedicated to the 10th Mountain Division as they crossed the Po — a major river here — and continued the liberation of Italy from the Nazis.
