Aspen Film has announced the program for its 46th annual Filmfest, showcasing top filmmaking from around the world over six days from Sep. 16 to 21 exclusively at the Aspen Film Isis Theatre.

This annual fall festival features films that premier at prestigious global film festivals, including Cannes, New York, Sundance, SXSW, Telluride, Toronto, Tribeca, and Venice.

“Each September, we look forward to gathering with our Filmfest audience to share and celebrate some of the most distinctive cinema that has emerged over the past year, turning up at some of the world’s most notable film festivals,” Susan Wrubel, Aspen Film executive and artistic director, said in the press release. “Now in our 46th year, Aspen Film is honored to share an array of films that introduce a range of incredible characters who persist, finding achievement, success, and satisfaction in the most surprising places. This is the magic of the movies.”

The noncompetitive festival will present 15 invited films a press release calls “highly anticipated, provocative fall 2025 titles” and one “beloved classic.” Themes of family, perseverance, identity, justice, and love will be touchstones of many of the selections, along with unflinching and unforgettable characters.

The Opening Night film is renowned Italian director Paolo Sorrentino’s latest “La Grazia,” coming off a Venice Film Festival Opening Night world premiere and kicking off Filmiest.

The Filmfest lineup includes 10 features and 6 documentaries, including the World Premiere of “Dreamboats,” directed by Zach Thompson, about two chefs who take on the challenge of a 3,000-mile row across the Atlantic.

Closing Night of Aspen’s 46th Film Fest will feature Bill Condon’s new adaptation of “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” starring Diego Luna, Tonatiuh, and Jennifer Lopez, with support from Justice for Migrant Women. The festival will officially close on Sunday, Sept. 21, after a free community matinee screening of “The Muppet Movie” (1979) in commemoration of the year Aspen Film began.

“Our curation offers something for everyone, and once again we’re presenting a dynamic mix of documentary and feature films that are sure to delight, raise discussion, move, and inspire our audiences,” Wrubel said.
