Aspen Film: Isis Theatre sees momentum ahead

Austin Colbert/The Aspen Times
Aspen Film is energized by the continued growth in community support, especially surrounding the preservation of the Isis Theatre. We have a healthy, fully committed board united around a clear mission, and we would like to reiterate that the Isis Theatre is not for sale.
Our vision for the Isis includes keeping the large theater intact for first-run film releases, Aspen Film programming and festivals, and community events that benefit the broader public. We know the Mayor and City Council share the desire to preserve the Isis as a theater and meaningful community space, and we look forward to productive, solutions-oriented dialogue that leads to a collaborative, win-win outcome for Aspen. More details regarding next steps for the theatre’s renovation and preservation will be shared soon.
There are many ways the community can continue to support Aspen Film:
- Become a member
- Attend our year-round programs, festivals, and community events
- Make a pledge to support Isis Theatre operations and renovations
We are thrilled by the momentum ahead — with our new executive director, Kitty Boone, planning exciting programming, and with education and community engagement remaining the cornerstones of Aspen Film’s work.
We believe movie theaters are places where reflection, imagination, and shared experience come alive in ways digital media simply cannot replace, which is why cultural spaces like Aspen Film’s Isis Theatre are treasures worth protecting.
We are grateful for the community’s growing support. Together, we can ensure that Aspen’s beloved Isis Theatre and the shared experience of cinema continue to thrive for generations to come.
Our best wishes for a happy and healthy 2026.
