4 Rivers Biennial Exhibition, a juried art show co-sponsored by The Sopris Sun, will open at the Aspen Chapel Gallery, on Wednesday, Feb. 7, with a reception for the artists from 5-7 p.m. The show runs through March 2.

The invitation was open to all artists living in the river basins of the Roaring Fork, Fryingpan, Crystal, and Colorado rivers.  Forty-five artists submitted 105 pieces. Lissa Ballinger, acting director of the Resnick Center for Herbert Bayer Studies, and Andrew Travers, Penner Manager of Educational Programs at the Resnick Center, were the jurors. They will announce the $1,000 Judges Award. People attending the opening will be able to vote for their favorite piece from 5-6:30 p.m. for a People’s Choice Award. The winner of the $250 prize will be announced at 6:45 p.m.

Co-director Michael Bonds coordinated the show. This is the 248th consecutive exhibition since the gallery opened 38 years ago.

Tom Ward, gallery co-director, said, “This is the fourth juried show for the Aspen Chapel Gallery. We are honored that Lissa and Andrew juried the show.  Please join us at the reception, congratulate the artists, and vote your favorite for the People’s Choice Award.”
