Ascendigo CEO stepping down to launch company that supports people with disabilities

Ascendigo Autism Services CEO Dan Richardson announced he will step down from his role to launch a new business that will specialize in providing property management services to people with disabilities, according to a news release.
His business, BOLD — Empowering People and Property, will also specialize in property management services to those waiting to age in place and those wanting total home performance. He will leave Ascendigo at the end of the year.
“I came to Ascendigo because I was captivated by autism as a window into humanity, and I wanted to learn more. I also was inspired by Ascendigo and understood immediately how unique and innovative Ascendigo was and still is,” he said in the release. “My goal has always been to change the world for the better, and I am still convinced that Ascendigo is not only doing this, but it is charting a critical path for our community and society at large.”
Richardson has been with Ascendigo for over six years, first as chief operating officer then as CEO. He helped create a strong leadership team, deepened Ascendigo’s internal infrastructure, secured and remodeled Ascendigos’ new building, expanded affordable housing for staff, and completed Ascendigo’s strategic plan, the release states.
“Dan brought compassion, thoughtfulness, wisdom, and a tireless work ethic to his time at Ascendigo,” said Founder and Chair of the Ascendigo Board of Directors Sallie Bernard in the release. “He will be greatly missed. His successor will have big shoes to fill, but we are excited and confident in finding our next outstanding leader and the next chapter in serving our community.”
Ascendigo will conduct a nationwide search for a new CEO. A search committee will solicit input from key stakeholders and communicate its progress throughout the search, the release states The ideal candidate will build on Ascendigo’s 20 years of providing an expanding portfolio of innovative services to the autism and developmental disabilities community in the Roaring Fork Valley.
