‘Meshell Ndegeocello: No More Water: The Gospel of James Baldwin’ will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 11 at The Wheeler Opera House, located at 328 E. Hyman Ave. “Meshell is an exceptionally accomplished artist, indicated in part by “No More Water” 2024 Grammy Award for Best Alternative Jazz Album. The Wheeler Opera House enjoys collaborating with Wheeler Associates on their concert series and this should be another great one,” Executive Director Mike Harrington told The Aspen Times. Grammy-winning artist Ndegeocello will perform a bold musical meditation on the lasting legacy of civil rights activist and literary hero James Baldwin, timed with Black History Month this February. A towering figure in American literature and civil rights, Baldwin’s work continues to challenge and illuminate issues of race, identity, and justice. Blending spoken word, gospel, and experimental sound, Ndegeocello channels Baldwin’s voice in a performance that is both timely and transcendent. The event is co-presented by Wheeler Associates and the Wheeler Opera House.
