‘The Claw’ fall musical takes the stage, Oct. 24-25

Theatre Aspen Education presents “The Claw” — a new, fall musical for young performers in second through sixth grade — with daily performances at 5 p.m. Oct. 24 and 25 at the Aspen District Theatre at Aspen Elementary School. When an out-of-order claw machine expectedly springs to life, the toys inside awaken with it. The Flair Bears, Mighty Mutant Power Turtles, and Beanie Elders all want to be “chosen,” but for one toy — Dot, a shy stuffed cow — the unknown world beyond the glass seems too scary.
Director Alicia Millerson notes that, “‘The Claw’ challenges us to search for hope, even when the future is unclear” — a theme brought to life through the students’ “imagination, teamwork, and fearless creativity.” Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and youths. For tickets, visit theatreaspen.org.
