Aspen man’s death still a mystery

Staff report

An autopsy performed Tuesday on a local Aspen man found dead in his apartment the day before discovered no obvious cause of death, a coroner said.

William Rector, 31, was found inside his apartment at Centennial about 4:30 p.m. Monday, Aspen Police Sgt. Mike Tracey said. The death did not appear suspicious, he said.

The cause of Rector’s death is pending a toxicology report, which could take two to three weeks, said Pitkin County Deputy Coroner Eric Hansen. The autopsy showed nothing that might explain his death, he said.
