Winter X Games get off to early start Wednesday
The Winter X Games will get off to an early start at Buttermilk on Wednesday night.
In a change from previous years, the 2015 Winter X Games will kick off with a medal event starting at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Buttermilk halfpipe. The Women’s Ski Superpipe event will be the first of 19 different sports scheduled for the Buttermilk venue over the next five days.
Olympic gold medalist Maddie Bowman is a two-time defending Winter X Games gold medalist in the Women’s Ski Superpipe.
The traditional Winter X Games schedule will take off Thursday morning at Buttermilk. At 11 a.m. Thursday, the Men’s Snowboarder X qualifying rounds will be held in the side-by-side, NASCAR-style racing format.
Later Thursday, there will be finals in Snowmobile Speed and Style and Men’s Snowboard Superpipe.
