Volleyball: Aspen falls in season opener to Roaring Fork

The outcome wasn’t what it wanted, but the Aspen High School volleyball team certainly thrilled in its season opener Tuesday at Roaring Fork High School.

The Rams came away with the 3-2 win after Aspen had them on the edge in the fifth set.

“We were up, I think, 10-5 in the fifth game and lost,” Aspen coach Matt Bergdahl said. “We had a little collapse. Probably tired bodies and mental mistakes right at the end that cost us.”

Set scores were 25-15, 18-25, 28-26, 19-25, 11-15.

“Roaring Fork definitely gave us a good wake-up call,” Bergdahl said. “Nobody left early.”

The Skiers (0-1) next play at home Tuesday against Basalt.
