Two Aspen skiers headed to XC World Championships

Aspen cross-country skiers Simi Hamilton and Noah Hoffman were named to the U.S. cross-country ski team that will compete in the FIS Nordic Ski World Championships on Feb. 18 to March 1 in Falun, Sweden, the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association announced Monday.

Sixteen athletes were named to the team. Hamilton will compete in the sprint event at his third World Championships event. Hoffman will resume competition after suffering a leg injury in the first World Cup event of the year in November.

Hamilton, 27, last competed in the World Championships in 2011, according to the ski team. Hoffman, 25, a former athlete with the Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club, competed in the World Championships in 2011 and 2013, the team said in its announcement.
