Steamboat to host NCAA skiing championships in 2010

INDIANAPOLIS ” The NCAA has selected Steamboat Springs, Colo., for the men’s and women’s skiing championships in 2010.

It will be the sixth time the NCAA championships have been held in Steamboat Springs, and the first time since 1996.

The NCAA says slalom and Nordic events will be at Howelsen Hill and giant slalom will be at Mount Werner at the Steamboat Mountain Resort March 10-13. Previous championships at Steamboat Springs were in 1968, 1969, 1979, 1993 and 1996.

The 2009 championships are scheduled March 11-14 at Bethel and Rumford, Maine.
