The Aspen High School softball team lost 24-2 to visiting Cedaredge (4-1) on Thursday at Upper Moore Field in Aspen. It was the first home game of the season for the Skiers.

“They are a good hitting team,” Aspen coach Dave Fuentes wrote via text. “They have (two) great senior pitchers and a fabulous catcher. Solid all the way through the order.”

It was the second time the two teams had played this season, Cedaredge also winning 19-0 in the season opener.

Aspen pitched two freshmen against the Bruins, with Hadley Guilander getting her first varsity start.

The Skiers, now 0-6, are off until hosting Gunnison on Sept. 22. The team will scrimmage Rifle’s junior varsity team Friday at 4 p.m. in Aspen.
