Skiers 10th in Rifle

RIFLE It took four extra holes, but Rifle’s Loren Forney came out on top Tuesday.Forney shot posted an 83 after 18 holes at the Rifle Creek Golf Course, then outlasted Moffat County’s Amber Nicholson on the fourth playoff hole to claim individual medal honors. Ashley Chastain (91) and Kori Kosht (94) finished sixth and seventh, respectively, for Rifle, which took top team honors.Moffat County (276) and Glenwood Springs (293) finished second and third. Aspen (371), which was without senior Ashley Fish, finished 10th out of 14.Shelby Butler turned in the Skiers’ low round of the day, a 111. Teammate Nicole Twohig shot 116, and Lyndsey Jackson finished with 144. Fish did not participate because she was taking International Baccalaureate exams. Aspen head coach Mary Woulfe was not available for comment Tuesday.
