Rockies, Tulowitzki: 6 years, $30 million

The Associated Press
Aspen, CO Colorado

DENVER ” The Colorado Rockies have agreed to a six-year, $30 million extension with Rookie of the Year runner-up Troy Tulowitzki, The Denver Post reported.

Tulowitzki was in Denver Monday to take a physical before the deal was finalized, the newspaper said.

Rockies general manager Dan O’Dowd and Tulowitzki’s agent, Paul Cohen, did not immediately return phone calls from The Associated Press Monday.

The contract would be a record for a player with less than two years of experience, breaking Cleveland center fielder Grady Sizemore’s mark of $23.5 million in March of 2006.

Tulowitzki finished two points behind Milwaukee’s Ryan Braun in Rookie of the Year voting last year.

Tulowitzki hit .291 and hit 24 home runs.
