Prep golfers test Haymaker course

High school golfers took an early look at the Haymaker Golf Course at Steamboat Springs this week.
Haymaker will be the site of the Class 3A Regional Championships, the state-qualifying tournament, later in the season.
Grand Junction High School dominated in team scoring at Haymaker, posting a first-place 222. Host Steamboat Springs was second at 231, followed by Montrose at 232.
Eagle Valley and Rifle followed at 241 and 242, respectively.
Aspen and Basalt tied for sixth overall and tied for first among the 3A teams with identical 243 scores.
Delta was eighth at 251. Vail Mountain School shot 252. Seventeen teams participated.
Burke Daily and Dawson Holmes led Aspen with matching 80s.
Will Hazen, who had finished second earlier this week in the Aspen Invitational, shot an 83 at Steamboat.
Sydney Slossberg shot an 89, and teammate Davis Henschel shot a 93.
Holden Kleager shot a 78 to lead Basalt.
Drew Broadhurst shot an 81, and Linc Kleager carded an 84.
Tanner Korn shot 102, and Cole Hollenbeck added a 104 for the Longhorns.
Medalist honors went to Glen-Michael Mihavetz of Montrose. He shot a 69 and then won a playoff over Canon Olkowski of Grand Junction, who also shot a 69.
Brother Trevor Olkowski of Grand Junction was third with a 70.
Britt Walton of Steamboat Springs was fourth with a 71.
