Prep briefs: Basalt volleyball snaps skid, soccer also wins

The Basalt High School volleyball team ended a four-match losing streak with a 3-0 win over Lake County on Saturday in Basalt. Set scores were 25-18, 25-17, 25-15. The Longhorns improved to 4-9 overall after the non-league win. They are scheduled to play at Delta on Tuesday.

Also Saturday, the Basalt boys soccer team defeated Colorado Rocky Mountain in Carbondale, 4-1. The Longhorns led 3-1 at halftime. Now 8-3 overall, Basalt plays at Coal Ridge on Tuesday.

The Basalt softball team played a pair of games in Denver on Saturday, losing 8-6 to Faith Christian and 6-2 to Evergreen. The Longhorns will host their regional tournament next weekend after recently clinching a district title.

On Saturday at Delta, the Aspen High School boys soccer team lost, 6-0, to the Panthers. The Skiers will host Colorado Rocky Mountain on Tuesday.
