Prep briefs: Basalt softball, soccer win Thursday
The Basalt High School softball and boys soccer teams were among the local winners Thursday in prep action. The Longhorns’ soccer team defeated visiting Crested Butte, 1-0, to improve to 7-3 overall with a Saturday trip to play at Colorado Rocky Mountain in Carbondale up next.
Basalt’s softball team won at Rifle, 8-7, avenging a 9-8, extra-inning loss to the Bears only five days prior. Basalt softball, which has already locked up a district title and home-field advantange during regional play, will conclude its regular season Saturday with a doubleheader in Denver against Faith Christian and Evergreen.
Also Thursday, the Basalt volleyball team lost 3-0 at home to Roaring Fork. Basalt will play Lake County on Saturday.
The Aspen High School volleyball team played at Delta Thursday, losing 3-0. Set scores were 26-24, 25-12, 25-8. The Skiers play at a tournament in Edwards on Saturday.
The Aspen softball team finished its season at Delta on Thursday, losing 20-0 and 19-0. The Skiers finished the year 0-14.
The Aspen boys tennis team began regional play Thursday in Grand Junction. The two-day tournament will conclude today.
