The Aspen High School boys tennis team finished play at the Class 4A state tournament in Pueblo on Saturday, securing a program-best fourth-place team finish. The Skiers concluded the three-day tournament with 33 points. Winning the 4A state title was Kent Denver with 82 points, followed by Colorado Academy (64 points) and Niwot (38 points).

Aspen won two of its four matches in the playback finals Saturday. No. 2 singles player Dillon Leasure won 6-0, 6-3 over Niwot’s Cadan Kammerer, and the No. 1 doubles team of Keegan Mehall and Gabe Suarez defeated Valor Christian’s Chapin Schott and Jonathan Hertel.

Aspen’s playback final losses came when No. 3 singles player Alex Ilic fell 7-6, 6-3 to Colorado Academy’s Jordan Wagner, and the No. 3 doubles team of Chris Gregory and George Ghali lost 6-4, 6-0 to Colorado Academy’s Cameron Pollock and Emmett Ela.

The Skiers finished with four podium finishers, believed to be a program best.
