Prep: Basalt softball wins two more, soccer falls

The Basalt High School softball team continued its hot play with a pair of wins at host Montezuma-Cortez on Saturday. In the first game of the doubleheader, the Longhorns won 21-8 after exploding with 15 runs through the first two innings. Basalt then rolled 13-3 in the second match.

The Longhorns move to 9-1 overall and have won six straight games. Basalt is off until Tuesday when it plays at Meeker.

Also Saturday, the Basalt boys soccer team played at Vail Mountain, falling 4-0. The loss drops the Longhorns soccer team to 3-2 on the season. Basalt will host Roaring Fork on Saturday.
