Prep: Basalt baseball blows by Aspen on Tuesday; BHS and AHS girls soccer win

The Basalt High School baseball team defended its home diamond Tuesday, cruising by Aspen for an 11-1 victory over the Skiers. When the two teams met earlier in the season on March 14, AHS had won, 7-5, in a non-league game.

Basalt improved to 5-5 overall and 2-2 in league play with the win. The Longhorns are scheduled to host Steamboat Springs on Thursday.

Aspen, now 5-6 overall and 0-3 in league play, plays Wednesday at Roaring Fork before it hosts Coal Ridge on Saturday.

Basalt girls soccer 6, Delta 4

The Basalt High School girls soccer team kept its hot streak going Tuesday with a 6-4 win at Delta. Freshman Sasha Brucker led the team with two goals, while Caitlin Coon, Callie Card, McKinley Braun and Jordan Banc each had one.

The Longhorns have won eight in a row to reach 8-2 on the season. They are 5-0 in league play. Next, BHS will host Grand Valley at 4 p.m. Thursday. The Cardinals (6-5) lost 9-1 on April 13 when hosting Basalt.

Aspen girls soccer 9, Grand Valley 4

The Aspen High School girls soccer team was a 9-4 winner at Grand Valley on Tuesday. The Skiers led 6-2 at halftime.

AHS improved to 6-4 overall and 4-2 in league play. The Skiers have won three straight games and four of their last five. Aspen next is scheduled to play Saturday at Moffat County.
