The Aspen High School boys lacrosse team defeated Grand Junction 11-7 on Thursday in snowy conditions at the AHS athletic field. The win improves the Skiers’ record to 9-3 overall and 7-0 in league play.

AHS has three games remaining in the regular season, all league games. With a two-game lead on Fruita Monument in the league standings, the Skiers need to win two of the three games to clinch the league title.

Aspen next hosts Telluride at 11 a.m. Saturday in its final home game. It will finish the season with games at Telluride (May 5) and at Durango (May 6).

Basalt baseball falls on the road

The Basalt High School baseball team lost 11-1 Thursday at Buena Vista. The Longhorns dropped to 5-8 overall and will next host Coal Ridge in a Saturday doubleheader.
