Prep: Aspen basketball at Delta Thursday
The Aspen High School boys basketball team looks to get back on the train tracks Thursday when it travels to Delta (6-7) for a 7 p.m. game.
The Skiers, 8-5 overall, saw their four-game win streak snapped Saturday in a 55-37 loss at Gunnison. The defeat came a day after a 50-48 win at Olathe.
AHS is 2-1 in the Class 3A Western Slope League, per MaxPreps. The Skiers return home Friday to host Grand Valley (7-7) at 7 p.m.

The Aspen High School girls basketball team also travels to Delta Thursday before hosting Grand Valley on Friday. The Skiers are 1-12 overall after losses to Olathe and Gunnison over the weekend.
The AHS hockey team will play at Cheyenne Mountain (10-4-1) on Friday and at Heritage (8-6) on Saturday.
The Skiers are 5-7-1 overall after a 5-1 win at Pine Creek on Friday and an 8-0 loss at current No. 8 Resurrection Christian on Saturday.
The AHS Alpine ski team competes Thursday at Ski Cooper, while the AHS Nordic ski team is in Minturn on Saturday. Each team has one more scheduled meet after this weekend before the Feb. 23-24 state championships at Howelsen Hill in Steamboat Springs.
The AHS girls swim team is scheduled to compete Friday and Saturday at the Western Slope League championships, hosted by Colorado Mesa University. The state swim meet is Feb. 9-11 in Thornton.
The Basalt High School wrestling team defeated Rifle Tuesday, 39-38, in its final home dual of the season. Longhorn wins (not including forfeits) came from Julius Vazquez (152 pounds, fall 3:30), Ernesto Lopez (195, fall 5:06) and heavyweight Oswaldo Morales (5-2 decision).
The Longhorns are next scheduled to compete Saturday at a dual tournament hosted by Meeker. Regionals take place Feb. 10-11 in Buena Vista, with state wrestling scheduled for Feb. 16-18 in Denver.
The Basalt High School boys basketball team won its 12th straight game Wednesday, winning 62-47 at the Denver School of Science and Technology: Green Valley Ranch. The Longhorns also recently won 67-51 at Gunnison and 60-24 at Cedaredge.
Their only loss continues to be a 72-59 defeat to Del Norte in the season opener on Dec. 1. BHS is ranked No. 8 in Class 3A in the latest (Jan. 30) CHSAANow.com poll.
The BHS girls basketball team is 2-11 overall after weekend losses to Gunnison (43-37 in overtime) and Cedaredge (44-33). Both the boys and girls teams will play at Roaring Fork on Friday and at Moffat County on Saturday.
