ASPEN – The Aspen Leafs men’s hockey team played the Park City Pioneers in a two-game set at the Lewis Ice Arena in Aspen last weekend.

The Friday night game went into overtime when Park City prevailed with the game-winner.

On Saturday, the teams skated hard in the opening period.

Park City built an early 3-1 lead.

Rough play and penalties marked the second period, including a pair of 5-minute majors.

In the third period, Aspen cut the lead to a single goal.

But Park City scored on a empty-net goal late for a 7-5 win and a sweep of the weekend series.

The next home game for the Aspen Leafs in the Mountain West Hockey League will be at 8:15 p.m. March 12 against the Las Vegas Hookers.
