Mountainboarders heat up S-mass

Action in the U.S. Open Mountainboarding Championships in Snowmass Village really heats up today with qualifying runs in both the downhill and Big Air competitions. Tomorrow is the big day, with finals and a full array of other activities for the whole family.

Below is a schedule of today’s and tomorrow’s events.

Today



10 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Preliminary Boardercross races on Fanny Hill.

3 to 6 p.m. – Preliminary Big Air competition on Fanny Hill.




7 p.m. – Premiere of mountainboarding movie “Down and Dirty 2” at the Silvertree Fanny Hill tent. Also a $6 pasta dinner buffet and Fat Tire Ale.

8:30 – Free movie on Fanny Hill: “The Wizard of Oz” with the “Dark Side of Oz”

Saturday

10 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Boardercross finals on Fanny Hill.

3 to 5 p.m. – Big Air finals on Fanny Hill.

5 to 5:40 p.m. – Jes Grew performs on Fanny Hill stage.

5:40 to 6 p.m. – Awards ceremony.

6 to 8 p.m. – Free concert with the Skatalites on Fanny Hill stage.

8 p.m. – Parties begin at local bars, with Mountainboard Mania party at Zane’s Tavern.
