Mother of All Ascensions returning to Snowmass

Up, up, up.

The annual Mardi Gras uphill returns on Tuesday.

The Mother of All Ascensions will take off at 7 a.m. from the base of Fanny Hill, just outside the Base Camp Bar and Grill in Snowmass Village, a part of the annual Mardi Gras celebration.

The uphill course will climb 2,073 vertical feet in less than 2 miles and ends at Gwyn’s High Alpine on Snowmass Mountain.

Local registration also is available at Base Camp Bar and Grill, the Ute Mountaineer, Bristlecone Mountain Sports in Basalt, Independence Run and Hike in Carbondale and Summit Canyon Mountaineering in Glenwood Springs.

Advance registration will close at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Race-day registration is $35 and begins at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday at Base Camp Bar and Grill.

More than $10000 in prizes will be awarded, including prizes to best costumes.
