Monday preps: AHS soccer, lacrosse win
The Aspen High School girls lacrosse team got its first win of the season Monday, cruising 19-1 in a game at Fruita Monument.
Jane Marolt and Mackenzie Miller scored three goals each for the Skiers, while freshman Charlotte Howie had four assists.
It also was the league opener for the Skiers.
Aspen (1-1), which lost 9-8 to Chatfield Friday in the season opener, next plays a non-league game Wednesday at Battle Mountain. The Skiers will host Conifer on Saturday.
— The Aspen High School girls soccer team improved to 2-0 on the young season with a 2-0 home victory over Crested Butte on Monday. Both goals were scored in the second half.
AHS, which also won 2-0 over Telluride on Saturday, next plays Friday at Montrose and Saturday at Durango.
— The Basalt High School girls soccer team lost 4-1 Monday at SkyView Academy in its season opener. The Longhorns trailed 2-0 at halftime. BHS (0-1) is scheduled to host Fruita Monument on Thursday.
