SNOWMASS Aspenite Nate Berkle earned the biggest payout Friday for a skier in the second contest of the two-month long Big Air Fridays series at Snowmass. Berkle pocketed $300 for his win, edging Dillons Mike Hornbeck and Snowmass Villages Sam Ferguson. Hornbeck and Ferguson earned $150 and $75, respectively. In the snowboard big air contest, Dillons Scott See took top honors. Glenwood Springs Brent Todd was second and Basalts Cory Stasinos took third. Big Air Fridays continue every Friday through April 4 on Snowmass Fanny Hill. Now in its fifth year, the series features snowboarders and skiers from around the state competing for cash prizes. The competition begins every Friday at 2 p.m. with a band following on the mall at 3 p.m., above D&E Ski and Snowboard Shop. Fireworks will follow at 7 p.m., until March 14, when they will begin at 8 p.m. because of daylight savings.
