Aspen resident Jenny Ellis, 12, proved once again she is one of the best soccer skills players in the state. Ellis scored the most overall points in the 11 to 16 girls’ age group of the Elks-sponsored State Soccer Shoot, held Oct. 9 in Salida. She also took first among the 12 to 13-year-old girls. Overall, 47 children participated, including 9-year-old Laila Pergande of Aspen.

The Soccer Shoot is an accuracy contest, and Ellis now will represent the state in the Elks Mid-America Soccer Shoot, held Nov. 5 in El Dorado, Kansas. She will compete against champions from Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Texas.

Ellis has won the state competition multiple times now, and also has previously won the regional crown.
