KIG Polo collects crown in Emma Challenge Cup

KIG Polo captured the title in the Emma Challenge Cup last weekend at the Aspen Valley Polo Club.

The championship was played in front of a large local crowd and in front of an international ChukkerTV audience .

KIG Polo went undefeated in the tournament, which wrapped up in windy and rainy conditions.

The winning players are Bash Kazi, Carlitos Gracida, Marc Ganzi, Nic Roldan and Matteo de Paolis.

They defeated FlexJet 5-4. That team included Grant Ganzi, Lucas Lalor, Juancito Bollini and Stewart Armstrong.

KIG Polo also defeated La Karina 6-3 to take the Emma Challenge Cup.

La Karina included Melissa Ganzi, Brian Boyd, Mariano Gracida, Juan Bollini and Alejandro Gonzalez. The tournament title was the first in Colorado for KIG Polo.

Juancito Bollini of FlexJet, a junior at Florida Atlantic University, was named the most valuable player. He scored three goals in the final.

Marc Ganzi led KIG with six goals. Roldan added four.

Ganzi and Roldan are preparing for the Aug. 23-Sept. 6 East Coast Open High Goal Polo Championship at Greenwich Polo Club in Connecticut.

This weekend, the Louis Vuitton Cup will be played at the Aspen Valley Polo Club outside Carbondale (3275 County Road 100).

The Mount Sopris Cup is set for Aug. 14-16.
